San Rocco is often depicted with a dog and thus he is popularly known as "the saint with the dog".
The small and lovely village of San Rocco, close to Camogli has invented in 1962 this prize, for the dog that during the year has shown a particular faithfullness to his/her owner.
On August 16th there is a big feast in the village, with music, food stands and fireworks, and prizes are given to the faithful dogs
