    Cinque Terre Map

by Mikebb Updated Aug 11, 2014

This map displays the Cinque Terre villages. Our tour visited 3 villages by ferry with approx. 90 minutes in each village, longer in the village where we had lunch.

Allocate a day for your visit, enjoy yourself, enjoy the sights and the wonderful food.

I would not recommend visiting all the villages in one day - to rushed to enjoy.

Ferry Wharf & Cinque Terre Prices

by Mikebb Updated Aug 11, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We travelled by ferry and it was extremely crowded, many people had no view at all. Would not recommend during peak season as outside on the deck it was very hot.

Ideal way to see Cinque Terre, fantastic view of the coast and a very nice way to enter the small villages.

Recommend you take the early ferry service, maybe less people during peak season. Possibly mid week may be less crowded.

The 2nd photos shows the cost.

Italian Naval Base - La Spezia

by Mikebb Updated Aug 11, 2014

Within minutes of our ferry departing we passed the marina and then the Italian Naval Dockyards where many warships were anchored.

Very easy to take photos from the ferry and it looked as though anyone could get reasonable close to the battleships.

    An unexpected surprise!

Day Ferry Trip to Cinque Terre

by Mikebb Updated Aug 11, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Our group took a day trip visiting 3 of the Cinque Terre villages. Our transport was by public ferry, 37 people in our group, all thinking what a wonderful day was ahead of us. Our departure point was La Spezia which is only a few minutes from Santa Marghretia.

Not so special! As we were on an expensive 16 day coach tour and the previous day we enjoyed a private ferry tour to Portofino, we expected something similar.

Our public ferry most likely had a capacity for 300 passengers, in fact I estimate 400 passengers were on board, standing room for approximately 100, and all viewing windows blocked by standing passengers.

Cinque Terre villages have a regular train service which I believe would be much better than the ferry during peak season.

When onshore our group had our own local guide and this part of the day was excellent.

    Bridges

The Italian engineers built this beautiful bridge, making provision for the tall mast sail boats to pass through as the bridge opens up at certain times throughout the day.
