I did some day trips to Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino from Zoagli.
Santa Margherita Ligure is a large sea side town some ten minutes by train from Zoagli. It has some peeble beaches, a big church; the basilica of Santa Margherita di Antiochia and a villa open to visitors. Villa Durazzo-Centurione. It was built in 1678 as a summer mansion. This is a complex which includes the main villa and two dependances; Villa San Giacomo and Villa Nido. Villa Durazzo Centurione has a beautiful park.
You can go to Portofino from Santa Margherita Ligure by direct bus. The journey should take around five minutes. Portofino is a little village by the sea. It is visited by lots of famous and rich people. The main sights of this village is a castle; Castello Brown; a couple of churches and the so-called Piazzetta. This is a square surrounded by colorful and tall buildings.

Zoagli has two nice promenades made of stones.
The oldest is the Passeggiata Canevaro. It was built in the 1930's; mostly with the money from the inhabitants of Zoagli. The other; the Passeggiata dei Naviganti was built in 2003.

Probably not the best beach in Italy but the sea is rather clean if compared to other places in Liguria. A Con's is that the pebbled stripe lies just next to the railway bridge - not a great thing. In any case the atmosphere of the bay is relaxing if you are off season.

Zoagli is worth for its beautiful promenade that winds following the rocky coast. In case of gales, especially in wintertime, the promenade is not fully accessible and dangerous. The sea comes over with an impressive force and that's a show not to be missed, if seen from a reasonable distance.

When I was in Zoagli I used to go at Simonetti's to have my ice cream around 5 or 6 p. m. This place is quite old and not nice, but the ice creams here were really good.
They have a large choice of savours. The only one I didn't like much was the coffee ice cream.
Favorite Dish: Banana ice cream was really good.

Address: Via XX settembre, 1.
Acqua e Farina is a small take away place, where you can have slices of pizza and some other savoury snacks.
Unfortunately there is only a table with some chairs if you like to eat something inside this place.
Favorite Dish: I liked much a kind of pizza topped with melted cheese.

Address: Via Luigi Merello, 5.
Favorite thing: This is a mansion more than a castle. It was built in 1914 in a Medieval and Gothyc style.
Probably many of you don't know who Sem Benelli was. Well, he was a writer and movie directior. He ordered this villa to be built, but later he had to sold it due to his economical problems.
Today this mansion is a private property. There are apartments inside. So you cannot enter its estate to take pics.
