The medieval Castello Scaligero lies on the shore of the small lake. It was built in the era of Scala Family, the lords of Verona in the Middle Ages. There are number of Scaligero fortresses and castles in the area of Lago di Garda, built in order to protect the western border of the huge Scala property.

Castellaro is a very small place and you can explore it in just about one hour of time. The whole place is situated inside the walls of the Scaligero fortress.
The organized groups of tourists visit this place during the weekends and in that occasion you can buy here the honey and variaty of products on its basis.

Trattoria "Due Gatti" is the best restaurant in Castellaro, situated next to the Castle Scaligero. It offers, on daily basis, the most delicious dishes from the region.
Since I am regularly visiting Italy, at least once a month, take my advice and look for "trattoria" coz you'll never be betrayed if eating there.
