If you're taking a walk along the lake, eventually you'll arrive to the museum. It's called CIVICO MUSEO PARSI VALLE. I haven't been inside, but even from the outside you can see some parts of the exhibitions. It was art (paintings) and some sculptures when I was passing by. Museum is a very strange building, strange shape and features, but truly...more
Every house on the lakeside will have its own lake approach, with private entrance. Although it's private, it's not forbidden to tresspass if it's empty and stroll along the lake a bit, or to enjoy walking by, admiring the view, sitting on the stairs and relaxing a bit... I loved doing all that!more
There is a long, beautiful lakeside promenade, going for kilometers and kilometers! It passes in front of private houses by the lake side, Maccagno Navigazione, main beach, forest beach resort and playground, museum, camping site... There are often benches under the trees in a shadow to rest and relax enjoying the wonderful view!more
There are many peers along the lake in Maccagno, and although they are mostly private, nobody will call the police if you take a stroll! Take a walk ats ome of them, observe the boats, enjoy the lake... These peers don't have tall wooden "sticks" like most of the others on the lake, and other Italian lakes.more
LIDO is a wonderful restaurant bar at the lakeside wth the beautiful view! The walls are made of glass so you can enjoy a specuacular sight outside. Beside the restaurant the people are sunbathing so you can enjoy that sight too, he he ;-)
The food is DELICIOUS!!! And the staff is extremely kind and helpful! It's very clean and nicely decorated inside. I highly recommend this place! It's one of my most favourite restaurants ever!
I don't know in which category to put this tip, and since everyboy is going to Maccagno to relax and enjoy themselves to the fullest, I decided it's a sort of a local customs tip. The locals are spoilt from all that beauty! So what you should do is go to the beach, stretch out as long and as wide as you are, and do absolutely nothing! Breathe fresh...more
Weekends are always more crowded! As soon as the sun shows up, people start arriving. Their favourite spot is the lawn beside the LIDO restaurant bar. You'll see many people stretching there and sunbathing. They often bring full equipment - umbrellas, beach beds, food, drinks... It's a favourite relaxing spot for the locals.more

Windsurfing is very popular in Maccagno, all throughout the year. Well, at least with the first spring rays of sun it starts and goes till late autumn, but it's not strange and rare to see someone in winter as well, some passionate enthusiast!
The water of lake Maggiore in Maccagno is crystal clear, pure, transparent, looking at it you feel like drinking it. Nature is unpolluted there and you can enjoy all the beauties of this paradise place. Often along the water line there would be flowers in the rocks, which makes it even more beautiful. And the glitter in the shallow waters among the...more
There is a beach where I always saw a bunch of dogs playing with their masters! It's a mini dog-training site. :-) They went into the water even if it was cold, but they were faster to get out just as well, he he! ;-) In spite of lots of dogs, the area is very clean, people take care after their pets' actions! :-)more
I don't know if this is a real or artificial river, but it runs from Maccagno Superiore and arrives to Maccagno Inferiore at the spot where the museum is. There is some sort of a dam with cascades, too, but I don't know if it has some practical purpose or it's just a decoration. The area around is very beautiful!more
