    Tip, Tip, Tip The Waiters!!

Be generous and TIP the waiters approximately 10% of your total bill as service is generally not included.

But do so only if you have enjoyed your meal. And I'm sure you will. This will also give the Italian waiters even more incentive to excel in their job!

That's us enjoying our Milanese meal!

Locals only drink cappucino for breakfast or no later than 1 pm. They like to laugh at us tourists ordering cappucino for dinner or anytime later than 1 pm. Also, butter only comes with bread at breatfast, not served for lunch or dinner. I think Italians are very careful with what they are supposed to eat for each meal. I was surprised to learn that myself even though I had read something about their customs. Very interesting! :o)

Since eating is a big thing in Milan, many dinners can take a long time, and the resturants don't rush you. In most places you need to ask for the check, or you will be their all night. But sometimes its a good thing to just hang out after you are done with dinner.

    Eat slowly...there's more coming!

Italian meals are quite a production. Don't eat too much appetizers and bread or you'll never get to the end of the meal. Remember, there's pasta coming, then the meats, then more bread, more wine, more dessert, more fruit...more more more!!! Hey, I'm not complaining, ok? I love food!

The most amazing habit of youngster in Milan is the 'aperitivo': it's an happy hour (18.30-21.00) well accompanied to a massive buffet of tasteful foods. Almast all the pubs and bars offer this service. And follow my suggestion: Milan is the best place in Italy where to have a GREAT COCKTAIL!!!

    Aperritivo !!!!

Excellent idea. Everydays in lot of pubs between 6.30pm and 9.00pm. You buy your beer and you can take food on a table. It's absolutly free, very good and lot of differents things like salad, sausage, toasts, etc...

    Eat the marrow!

    by donpaul77 Written Apr 1, 2008

So you've finished all the delicious meat surrounding the bone, but don't forget about that delicacy in the middle! Use your spoon and scoop out the marrow. It melts in your mouth!
