Shopping at the Galleria - at dusk. by Krystynn People are pretty well-dressed here. And Milan isn't known as the city of high fashion and outlet shopping for nothing. Bring along a half-filled luggage and go shopping in Milan. Some of the HOTTEST and hippest clothes these days are designed by Italian designers from the design houses Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Armani... amongst others. If you wish to blend in with the chic locals - dress like them. Smart casuals and/or elegant outfits only please. ;-) The following is a rough guide on what I'd pack along with me for a vacation to Milan in summer where the weather is warmer! (1) 1 pair of jeans (in black or denim blue). (2) 1 short skirt OR skorts (a mini skirt with a pair of shorts sewn in... Very hip right now). (3) 1 pair of shorts/ bermudas. (4) 2 summer dresses. (5) 3 or 4 cotton t-shirts/ tank tops (6) 1 pair of sandals (7) 1 pair of evening shoes (8) 1 little black dress (which can double up for day and evening events).

Corso Vittorio Emanuele by croisbeauty Those who are traveling to Milano shouldn't bring too many bags of cloths with, because it is the leading fashion center of the world.
There are so many shops and stores in Milano offering different kinf of cloths and shoes in regarding prices and quality. Those who cannot spend much should visit the stores in Corso Buenos Aires, those who doesnot care for the prices should go in Via Montenapoleoni, Via della Spiga or Corso Vercelli.
Bring your own medical supplies if it serves for the special treatment, oterwise not because all you need is available in Milano.
Same goes for your camera
There are a very good stores in Via Zara, nearby Sesto San Giovanni. Leave a Comment

Bring some walking shoes.
Don't bring your fanciest photo gear. It might be stolen from you.
Sunglasses!!! This is the most important thing to bring with you to Italy. All Italians are wearing them even if there is no sun. Preferrably from some designer like Armani or Gucci etc. Leave a Comment

by snmred As with any traveling, light is good. I arrived in Milan with way too much stuff. I was going to be staying for a few months but you can find anything you could possibly need in Milan so don't bring it all with you. You also may want to bring an additional, collapsable bag to bring all the goodies home with you.
HOT in the summer but do not wear shorts, Italians don't like them and you will look like a dork wearing shorts, wear thin, linen pants. COLD in winter, layer you cloths becuse a lot of time it's too hot in stores or restaurants and you will sweat if you cannot remove a coat or sweater. Key is not to look like an American tourist so don't bring any of your Disneyland or football sweatshirts. The Italians all dress well so do your best to try to fit in. Conservative is good.
You can find all at Upim. It's a department store with a beauty/cosmetic section that's huge!!!! and great prices. There's also plenty of farmacia's open all hours.
When craving pistachio gelato go to one of the vendors in the Duomo, it's cheaper and usually a lot better than gelato shops. If you just want a cold beer you can get one for about $1.50 at most of the same vendors that sell gelato. Leave a Comment

Large bags with enough room in them for your new purchases - Milan is one of the shopping capitals of the world!!
Comfortable shoes for all the shopping you are going to do (and for walking from Il Duomo to Castello Sforzesco).
Any photo equipment you need you should be able to buy here - and believe me there are many beautiful things you will want to take photos of... so make sure you've got enough film/memory and batteries. Leave a Comment

by syllybabe If taking the train or riding small cars, take as little with you as possible.
It was warmer in northern Italy compared to the south so the parka came in handy.
These 3 things I never leave home without...ever! And they've saved the day while I was travelling more than once. Leave a Comment

If you are planning to visit the Cathedral and the weather is hot - think of taking some light shirt that does not take much room in your bag: you will need one at the entrance of the Cathedral as people are not allowed inside with bare shoulder.
Pretty much anything can be purchased in Milan upon arrival.
Take your ATM card - there are many cash machines, so your card will not let you down. Leave a Comment
