These arched gates are part of the 12th Century fortifications that surrounded Milan. These gates represent some of the few remaining vestiges of the walls. Beyond the gate is one of the major high end shopping streets, then on to the Galeria Vittorio Emanuele on via Monzoni. There are some interesting details above the gate.

Archi di porta nuova was part of the 12th c. wall of Milan and is located on via Alessandro Manzoni and via dell'Annunciata. It was demolished in 15 c. and later renovated or integrated into other buildings.
