Tornavento Travel Guide

 Aurorae Says:  Tornavento is a perfect spot to admire over 4000m Monte Rosa in the Alps! Although it's in Val d'Aosta, and almost 100km by air line from Tornavento, Monte Rosa is very extinguishable and a great sight! The longer it gets after the sunset, the better you can see it! 

 Aurorae Says:  Starting from Tornavento's square terrace, you can descend down to the green areas, and hike in the natural park. There are also a lot of joggers. It's a very beautiful park and a real wilderness comparing to very urban Lombardia, and everything you find on the other side of... 

 Aurorae Says:  This table explains what you can see in front of you, it points out to the exact mountain peak visible from there, and it also explains more about the natural park in front of you. It's a very useful and well done table! 

 Aurorae Says:  Before, this place used to be the customs between Italy and Austro-Hungarian Empire! Precisely rthis square and church were the customs location and border. 

 Aurorae Says:  Since Tornavento is a perfect spot for romantic landscape viewing, they have placed lots of sitting places, these funny chairs included! They are absolutely hilarious! And they shake! :-) But watch out if you're overweight, there is a limited support on them... :-) 

 Aurorae Says:  As everywhere in Italy, you'll find nice, warm and bright facades, mostly earth-shades coloured houses, but also pink! All the houses on the small square of Tornavento are very cute and some are also public facilities - like the post office you can see here. It all looks... 

 Aurorae Says:  The Church of San Eugenio in Tornavento is located at the main square, on the street you have to pass to reach the place. It was built such a long time ago, in 1300, but reconstructed in mid 19th century.Inside there is an organ from mid 1800 from G.Franzetti di Ispra.

 Aurorae Says:  This is the famous Tornavento square, Piazza Parravicino. In the warmer days it gets more crowded, although it's quite a solitary place most of the time (whenever I've been at least!) It can happen that there is nobody around for hours...It's a plateau overlooking Ticino... 

 Aurorae Says:  When sun begins to set behind the mountains, it will be "cracked" as the mountain peaks will draw themselves over it! It looks funny!
