Tremezzo Travel Guide

 basstbn Says:  The Villa Carlotta and its gardens (covered in separate tip) were a short, easy walk from our lodging in Cadenabbia. We had arrived at Lake Como on the previous day in a steady downpour, but the day of our visit to the villa was glorious, great for photography and clear...

 Aurorae Says:  The concept of Villa Carlotta gardens is in labyrinths. They are usually made of azalea bush. There are also tiny paths and roads curving between the trees and foliage. 

 Aurorae Says:  In the upper side of the Villa Carlotta gardens there is a bamboo resort. The entrance is through the big pagoda gate. There is a huge bamboo forest, tiny stream, wooden bridges... it's arranged in the oriental garden style. 

 Aurorae Says:  The trade mark of Villa Carlotta are azaleas. You'll see them on every postcard, and every place where Villa Carlotta and Tremezzo are mentioned. Azalea bush are so wide spread and on every corner you'll see some. They are neatly taken care of and in the brightest colours! 

 Aurorae Says:  Since almost every single plant on Earth found its place in Villa Carlotta botanical gardens, so did cacti. There is a section for cacti, although very small comparing to the space other plants/alleys took! 

 Aurorae Says:  One of the thematic sections of the Villa Carlotta park is also rhododendrone alley. There are wonderful trees in various levels, with tiny paths in between covered with fallen petals... 

 Aurorae Says:  Not only azaleas, plams, rhododendrons and bamboo are featuring in the gardens of Villa Carlotta. There are other exotic plants and flowers, trees... They all have a plate with a name under. 

 Aurorae Says:  There are lots of benches all over Villa Carlotta botanitcal gardens, very suitable for relaxing, reflecting, or simply enjoying the beauty of the place. SOme are in the hidden corners, small plateaus just popping out from the exuberant vegetation, and some are on the wide... 

 Aurorae Says:  This is the first thing you wll face when entering Villa Carlotta. It's not so big, but still big enough. There is a lovely view on it from one of the villa's balconies. It has a lovely fountain and a mini labyrinth. 

 Aurorae Says:  There are several fountains in Villa Carlotta and in one of them you'll find pretty big turtles! Their space is quite limited, but they seemed quite happy with their home and people roaming around. They brought the heads out and looked curious! 

 Aurorae Says:  Bellagio is just across the lake. You can see it very well from any location in Villa Carlotta and Tremezzo. The best views are from the top of Villa Carlotta gardens of course. Go there in the afternoon, when the sun is shining on Bellagio directly, that's when the light is... 

 Aurorae Says:  In front of the Villa Carlotta there is a small oval plateau under the trees with benches, facing the lake and ovrlooking Bellago on the other side. Sit there for a while, relax and enjoy the fresh breeze and spectacular view! 

 Aurorae Says:  There is a part of Villa Carlotta gardens that is a jungle! A rainforest, or whatever, I'm not a botany expert, but it contains exotic exuberant plants and looks like Amazonia!
