    We chose to visit Lovere on a Saturday in May 2011.

    The bus take a little over an hour as it winds through beautiful Italian scenery, passing from village to small town as it skirts around the Italian lakes of Endine and Iseo.

    Tickets cost €7.80 for a return from Bergamo to Lovere.

    When boarding buses in Italy, it is important to validate your ticket on the machine provided. Tickets are purchased, in advance, from bus stations and tobacconists.

    Bergamo to Lovere

    When planning our trip to Lake Iseo, we consulted the helpful staff at Bergamo Tourist Information Office, which is adjacent to the bus station (and is also near to the train station)

    We were provided with a timetable of the ferry crossings, which we realised wouldn't allow us to travel between more of the lakeside towns/villages as the connections weren't as easy as we'd anticipated. Tel - 035.971 482 for ferry timetables fares etc.

    We decided to spend the day at Lovere, as it had some places of interest, and there were regular (every 30 minutes) direct buses.

    The sab-autosevizi (S.A.B. bus company)
    operate bus services to the nearby lakes and mountains, including to Lovere
    Telephone +39 035 28 90 00;

    A return ticket, purchased from the ticket office inside the bus station (stazione autolinee) on Piazzale Marconi, cost 7.80 Euros. (initially we mistook the ticket office for long distance/coach tours booking office)
    The staff speak English.

    We were directed to platform 12, and had just a short wait until the bus pulled in.

    Boarding the bus, we validated our tickets, by punching them in the machine. This is a requirement by law, and hefty on the spot fines can be issued for non-validated tickets.

    The bus was quite comfortable, and wasn't too full. We had caught the 10.05 bus.

    I sat on the right hand side of the bus, which gave me some good views of the distant snow capped Alps, and the lakes of Endine and Iseo.

    We were held up for a while, as a herd of cows, complete with bells around their necks, were driven down the road towards us - we were surprised to see the traffic tail back that this caused.

    It seemed less than an hour that we were alighting on the lakeside in the centre of Lovere.
    Buses back to Bergamo left from the opposite side of the road.
