I've spend in Campobasso almost 4 months last year, where i've participated in Erasmus programme. During this time i've visited many small villages around campobasso, to most of the you can get by foot (they are located within 7km). It was really WORTH IT !!!
Google Maps is really usefull with choosing the route (dont forget to select ,,by foot" mode).
I can reccomend trip to :
    1. Ferrazzano (foto1)
    2. Campodipietra -> Toro (you can back to campobasso by bus)
    3. Oratino -photo2, (you must see the ruins of castle on the north of Oratino, i heard that one of the movie with Brad Pitt was taking place there, but i'am not sure it is true) - The map how to get there i've added as a photo below (foto3)
We met also a tourist group from Canada, there was a famous battle beetewan ally's and nazi durin II World War.
    4. Ripalimosani (GREAT !!!) -> one part of the village is abandoned(photo4)

Despite of the villages, you can visit also:
    - Monte Cassino (by bus)
    - Termoli (by bus)

Small old town, bathrooms out the back balcony?!

    by travelnut71 Written Oct 29, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    Bathrooms outside home

This town about 10 km from Campobasso, called Gildone, is very old and hilly. We found the strange thing that the bathrooms are sticking out of the house in the back, like a cabin...
