This castle, called "Castello di Monleone" is a bit uphill, 5 minutes from the centre. Its not such an old building (it dates back to the 19th century) and its architecture is a bit in contrast with the rest of the town. Most of this castle has been converted into a luxury hotel with just 5 rooms. The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park and there are great views.
In winter months the beach is virtually deserted, but on a sunny day you still can enjoy it. Sea water is then a bit cold to swim (though german and sacandinavian tourists sometimes do), but laying in the sun is OK.
The beautiful sandy beach is about 1 kms long and it is protected from the waves by some rocks about 100 mt from the shore. Water is thus pleasantly warm from May to October and it is ideal for kids.
The main street in Moneglia is a pedestrian zone and it runs parallel to the beach. Most shops, bars and reastaurants (and the only bank in town) are here.
The old centre of Moneglia still has some narrow streets, called "carrugio" in local dialect, that date back to the medieval age. As there is always shadow, they are pleasantly cool in summer. There are some bars and a few local shops.
