Blues River in Milan and Mecano, Mecano in Florence are excellent places to have good drinks, great conversation, and listen to outstanding music.Blues River impressed me in that it was a traditional British Pub with pints of Guiness readily available for its fans. I was incredibly impressed with the house band, they were excellent. They played everything from Santana, Jarabe de Palo, Italian standards, etc...truly eclectic. Meccano, Meccano is a great open air club in Florence. It has two separate dancefloor, three working bars (at least when I was there), a nice cozy lounge area where you can just chat it up with the darling Italian you just met. Get there early so you can find a spot to sit, it gets incredibly packed with beautiful people quick. Well...since I went with the family..and having no other mates to go out with..I resulted to trying a night out on the town first in Rome. DON'T GO ALONE. Especially if you are a girl...you'll be drooled all over and it could turn into a sticky situation. I tried once more in Florence the last night that i went out. There was a club calle the Yab. Very nice and clean..but it was a scam. You had to pay 30,000liras just to get out of the place and the drinks cost your right arm. Try a local bar..they're much more friendly!!The great thing about Italy is....you don't even have to go to a club or disco to be able to enjoy the place. To really experience the people, cutlure and great cuisine...you just need to walk around...go to the spanish stairs in Rome where you'll meet other travellers....be a tourist...it's absolutely relaxing!! Bulldog is a dance club mostly open only on Saturdays. Don't come before 1am because the fun does not start till then, that is if you find it. Speedy Gonzales is easier to find and is mostly packed in the weekends. It is located right next to an American military facility so you'll find a lot of navy people. Spalmatore also opens up in summer time for dancing at night.Good European Music blend and of course the people. Wear something black. I think that is the standard European color for clothes in winter and at night. Of course if you want to stand out and announce to everyone you are a visitor, wear the brightest colors and you'll definitely get the attention.
There are some great parties that these Italians throw on this amazing island...one at the Lighthouse!Picture this...by the water...with a small mountain....outside with beautiful lights and statues......and great music! Wowow.......what a party! Dress it up guys!
