Nizza hosts a lot of fairs and festivals during the spring, summenr and autumn months. The most notable include the Corsa delle Botti, usually held on the 4th weekend of May (worth checking though as it was the 3rd weekend 2006!) - where many of the wine cantinas from the surrounding area compete by pushing giant oak barrels around the streets.
During the day, visitors can enjoy ‘monferratointavola’, where each of the local towns and villages offer their regional food specialities, not to mention their own wines to taste or buy.
The barrel racing starts and finishes in the main square, while families enjoy the huge market and the funfair.

Excellent full service restaurant in the centre of Nizza Monferrato offering typical Piemonte quisine and outstanding regional wines. always busy and very popular with locals.
Favorite Dish: Try the Vittelo Tonato - thinly sliced veal with a tuna sauce - it is outstanding.

We decided to do a hike one day. Iit was thought for families with children and should last 4 hours, so we were told.
After we already maintain five hours on the way, we asked an old italian woman whether it would still be wide. No no,she said , it would still last only a rise and it takes 10 minutes. Ten rises and 1.5 hours later we reached our goal . Be therefore very carefull if it only lasts 10 minutes.:-)

Nizza lies as a crossroads to several of the regional "Strada del Vino" (the wine road) routes. Check out the details at www.astesana-stradadelvino.it/english/home-wineroad.htm for details of all the routes. The wine routes take you through great towns, villagesvineyards and countryside with plenty of opportunities to visit wineries (cantinas) and other local craftsmen.
