Pack to Verona

First most important thing to pack with you in such an event is a hundreds of films for your camera, or Battery recharger and big memory cards for your digi camera, as in such a madness not less than hundreds of photos will be taken!

The What To & The What Not To....

by deecat

Depending on your length of stay, try to pack as little as possible. Take clothes that MATCH so you are able to interchange them. Be conservative in your color choices: black, brown, grey, dark blue if possible. We travel in the Spring and Fall, so I alway do the layers so I can take off or put on what is necessary. This photo shoes a "no-no" the 1st time I traveled to Italy (white tennis shoes!). Instead, and thereafter for me, wear black shoes (tennis shoes are ok) so you don't stick out as a tourist and so you can use them as evening dress. Pack your medicines with the prescriptions on them and an extra pair of prescription glasses if you wear them in your carry-on piece of luggage. That is one item that you can ill-afford to lose! I advise not to take anything complicated or huge to lug around. Also, one item that thieves love to "swipe" is a camera. My daughter's camera strap was...

Staying warm in Italy during the winter....

by LBKesner

Along with our regular winter coats, sweaters and quick-dry pants, skirts, and dresses, we took a couple of Capilene long pants and long-sleeve shirts. They were quick dry--drying overnight in most of our hotel rooms, but they kept us comfortable on a very chilly gondala ride one cold night. Trying to be more fashionable when our tour hit Milano, I left my long underwear in the suitcase, and regretted it! Milan was the only place the cold weather was a bother. Everywhere else I was relatively comfortable--even the night we were caught in a downpour in Rome. Bring waterproof shoes or dressy boots, especially if you're visiting a flooded Venice.

When Travelling by Car...

by Kiwigirlie

Even though you have a car to just dump all your belongings into it's still better to travel light. You won't need to worry about sorting through stuff to find anything and there is less things to be stolen! During that particular summer in Italy it was at the end of a heat wave so we made sure we had only the lightest of summer clothes. But I also packed a fleece and a pair of jeans and I'm glad that I did as in Austria the nights got cold! Good walking shoes or reef shoes are a must in Italy as you'll be doing a lot of walking no doubt. Sunblock is a total must! I always carry some on me in the summer. We also had a small medical kit in the car for emergencies... Luckily we never had to use it. A polarise filter is always a good idea in hot countries. And loads of film. Especially in Roma and Firenze!! There are too many wonderful things to take photos of. We used a tent (6 man) and...

Packing - it's easier than you think

by crusin_tha_world42

For most of those girls out there that like to shop- hang tight because you wont be able to put your wallet away. Chances are your going to come across a few bags of some kind that your going to buy so count on those to hold some of your collectibles and presents for everyone back home. If wearing flip-flops or shoes with heels makes you feel tired and irritable- leave them home. Whatever your comfortable walking with is your best bet. Many prefer sneakers, but flip-flops always work best for me.Consider when your going- if it's winter- dont bring sandles. Most importantly- DONT BEING EVERY PAIR OF SHOES YOU OWN. theres no room and youll be sorry later! Bring 1-2 good paris of shoes you KNOW your going to wear, anything more is overdoing it because again, youll probably pick up a pair or two while your there anyway. If your a glamor girl, bring a bag for all those kind of accessories-...

Electricity

by sim1

In case you want to bring any electrical appliances with you, here is the system Italy uses : 230 volts and 50 Hz. It is a "Schuko" plug and receptable with side grounding contacts (see picture)An adapter will allow you to plug an appliance designed for one type of outlet into another type of outlet. Despite the fact that more than a dozen different types of plugs are in use, a typical travel adapter kit usually contains about five adapters which are capable of dealing with most of the outlets shown here. Adapters often manage this versatility by bypassing the ground/earth wire. Beware : an adapter by itself will not change the electrical voltage. You must be sure that your appliance can handle different voltages (either automatically or through a voltage switch). If it can't, you will need a voltage converter.

BUY THIS BOOK IF YOU LOVE FOOD!

by tigerjapan

If you are travelling to Venice, Rome and/or Florence then "Great Eats Italy" by Sandra Gustafson could be a big budget saver and introduce you to some wonderful restaurants. We used it on our trip to Italy in Dec 2004 and found it extremely useful. Our only bad meal was one of the times we strayed. Easy to read and with relevant and up-to-date information this book was wonderful.

Packing List

by DUNK67

Take warm clothes suitable for skiing. Take lots of thin layers as it can get warm on the slopes and it is better to take one layer at a time off, rather than one big jumper. Take plenty of sunblock as the sun can be very hot on top of the mountains and it's power is intensified by the whiteness of the snow. Take plenty of films as the scenery is breathtaking.

Pack if you don't have a great Azzu with you!

by dr.firas

If you don't have the greatest guide a person can have in Pisa like Azzu ;-Dthen you'd better think of buying guidebook, and a map of the city, in that way you'll make it easier for yourself, and you will not be obliged to ask some body in every step you make there!
