"Il Saraceno" by Giovanni was a fantastic surprice for an evening business dinner. But it will be even nicer if you go for your own. Giovanni is a nice guy from Sicily: it is important to say that because in Piemonte everybody who is not coming from Piemonte is looked with suspect. Sorry to say that, but I feel very uncomfortable in a lot of places. So, Giovanni, in order to run this successfully restaurant (rewarded in Michelin guide) had to work hard. But, unless for the unpersonal ambience (with 40-45 places) the cuisine is terrific, Giovanni's suggestions are the best and the seafood look marvellous fresch and tasty. As dessert we orderd Cassata alla siciliana. It was simply fantastic.
It is strongly raccomended to book.
They close on Monday.

I went there because it was rewarded by a culinary book. I think it was the first time that such gourmet book failed. This 35/40 places restaurant is run in a traditional way (they even don't accept credit cards) but, in this case, it is not a positive thing. First of all you have to wait A LOT to be seated, to have a list, to give your order, to get your food and finally, to have the bill. Secondly, they were totally unfriendly with me, perhaps because I am not from Piemonte region (I was told that people there is not so open to non-piemontese people), althought I was alone (and everybody know it is not so nice to go to the restaurant alone). Moreover, the starter was nothing special and the main course, the "brasato con polenta" (very typical dish there) was really bad. the meat was hard to chew and the corn soup (= polenta) was almost burnt! I spoiled everything because I went to the hotel and dined in the hotel restaurant!!!!
They close on Sat. and Sun. Go there if you have really no other choice.
Favorite Dish: Nothing I ordered was good.

If you are in Ricetto, you are very lucky. It's unknown out of Piemonte region but it really worths a visit. If you can afford it, do not miss LA TAVERNA DEL RICETTO. It's very expensive but ist cousine, the ambience and the service worth the price.
The locals are nearby a very old cinema but they were completely refurbished in 2005. The results are exceptional from every point of view. The restaurant is intimate and warm but can be suitable also for grops of 30-40 people, the terrace is terrific like the room with the cheminee. They also orgnize meeting because they have a very large underground meeting room. The cellar is adequate to the levels of wine of Piemonte.
The cuisine is traditional piemontese with some sort of new arrangements. Complimentary appetizers and cakes are also included.
Favorite Dish: I write down what I have ordered (with great satisfaction):
Rabbit slice (rabbit meat cooked with steam, served rare cooked. it looked like a slice of fresch thunafish)
Risotto
