Santuario della Pietà
If you visit Cannobio you cannot fail to notice this church, since it is situated on the lake front and near the main piazza. In this same place there used to be an inn, where in 1522 many witnesses saw blood drip from a small painting that represented the dead Jesus with Mary and John. Soon a small and modest church was built there, and in 1578 it was replaced by the church we can see now, built by order of Carlo Borromeo (who later became a saint).
The church is small, but its interior is in richly decorated and there is a good painting above the altar, also from the 16th century, representing the Via Dolorosa.
Visit Fonte Carilina
On one of her morning runs, Joan discovered “Fonte Carilina” up in the hills outside of Cannobio. This mineral spring is where an archbishop of Milan in the 16th century, drank and had his all ailments cured – kidneys, blood, and heart. The healing waters became so popular throughout Europe that the whole town of Cannobio developed to accommodate all the visitors, similar to the spas around Baden-Baden and Bath.

Wander the streets/Eat in the Restaurants
There is actually little to do in Cannobio, but it is a great place to wander round with a lovely quiet atmosphere. I visited on a weekday in late September, and it feels like it would be very atmospheric to visit when it is very quiet out of season. Have a look at the photos of the streets and the historic church
Cannobio is a nice place for walk around, drink some aperitives and have a good food.
You can although bike , make any water-sports .....
