From the terrace of the castle you can see a beautiful landscape over Turin. If the day is clear you can see the Basilica of Superga on the hill in the background.
The building of the castle goes in the 9th-10th century. The first Savoia that lived in the castle was Amedeo IV. In the castle there was the first ostension in Piedmont of the Holy Shroud. The castle was modified by the architect Ascanio Vittozzi in the 15th century, when he died his project brought ahead by the architects Carlo and Amedeo di Castellamonte and concluded in 1644. In the 18th century the castle became a barracks and was damaged during the Second War World. From 1984 it is house of the Museum of Contemporary Arts.
