The more to south you travel in Italy the greater troubles you have with communication. Usually, young people speak foreign languages(eng,ger,fra), but matured... On the other hand, italian isn't too difficult and some basic phrases can be really helpful

beware of the'siesta time' as usual in the southern europe-all shops,offices,banks are closed.In Foggia,neither the public toillets are in service..But,I think this has changed...
