Acmet Pascia': Spaghetti alle vongole par excellance
Enjoying a plate of fresh local fish while looking out over the sea it came from is one of the idyllic experiences of Mediterranean holidays. Ok, so the sea in question here is the Adriatic, but our visit to Acmet Pascia' was one such perfect moment.
Otranto is famous for the bloody events that took place here when Ottoman invaders slew the inhabitants. Now long enough ago to lend the town nothing more than a thrilling edge for visitors, Acmet Pascia' is one of a number of local businesses that trades on this macabre history; our menu included a brief illustrated outline of the whole gory story...
But that's where the morbid ends. This is a tranquil spot for an evening meal - and romantic, too, depending on who you're dining with. The view over the Strait of Otranto is lovely and the food itself very, very good. The dishes are simple: classic Italian cuisine using truly excellent fish and shellfish. You'll find carpaccio, pasta, grilled fish and risottos amongst others. Local wines to accompany. White wine from Salento is well worth trying and it goes with nothing as well as fresh seafood.
If you don't like fish, don't bother; there's little, if any, non-seafood on the menu. Fish is obviously their strong point and they certainly do it well. If you do appreciate great Italian fish dishes, I can strongly recommend Acmet Pascia'.
Favorite Dish: Spaghetti dishes were divine - we tried two and both were memorably good. I can particularly recommend spaghetti served simply with clams.

Fish without any doubt [the sea is 100 meters]: pepper of mussels, octopus salad, swordfish carpaccio. Good pasta dishes proposed with fresh pasta made at home. Try the noodles with seafood, the 'sagne' with shrimp, timeless tubettini with mussels. Excellent pignata of Octopus [a real specialty], certainly value the fried cuttlefish and paranza gratin in the oven. Sweets house all inviting.
U have to try the "cake pasticciotto, almonds and fruit.
