marekg Says: take train or car to Foggia - thats the best way how to get to Gargano. From Foggia you can continue to any town mentioned above by busbus; I don't recommend hitch-hike: once I tried it, I walked from Foggia to Manfredonia cca.40-50km by highway... bare feet in sneakers....
marekg Says: The more to south you travel in Italy the greater troubles you have with communication. Usually, young people speak foreign languages(eng,ger,fra), but matured... On the other hand, italian isn't too difficult and some basic phrases can be really helpful
