Restaurant of Romantik Hotel Stafler: Delicious northern Italian cuisine

by Trekki

I knew of this restaurant since a long time, but when I was in Mules in the past, we always stayed at a mountain farmer’s house high up in the mountains. In May 2010, on my way down to Umbria, I finally had the chance to stay in the hotel and of course I dined in its restaurant. It was the right decision!Already when I studied the menu, the waitress served me compliments from the kitchen. And she continued after I have ordered, so I received four in total. Already these were very much delicious. I especially liked the combination of Italian and Alpine cuisine, for example polenta and grissini together with brown bread and ramsons. First I got bread rolls (fresh, despite it was evening) together with three kinds of spread (butter, cream cheese with herbs and a slightly spicy tomato one), followed by another appetizer with home-smoked ham (the one Alto Adige is so famous for), rye bread...

Delicious snacks: zero need to look for McD

by Trekki

Italian food is delicious, no doubt about that. But this is not only true for dining out but also for the quick snacks. No wonder Slow Food movement was established after a huge wave of protest swept through Italy when rubbish burger shops wanted to establish business. Sadly some mass magnet cities gave in and let these plastic food chains open some of these nightmare establishments. So much for prostitution for tourist money. But there is zero need to frequent these, not even in Roma, Firenze, Venezia, Napoli and Verona. There are enough cafè bars where made-in-Italy snacks are being sold. First of all of course pizza. Small snack bars, often not more than a hole in the wall, they produce masses of pizza on trays, mostly a guarantee that it is fresh. These pieces of pizza are being called pizza al taglio (cut pizza). Then there are local delicious snacks, often with herbs or vegetables...

La Lampara: For a taste of the local

by KB&MC

Nice ambiance, great staff, good food.If you order a grilled whole fish, you may be lucky enough to get a sweet old man offer to de-bone it for you. Although we declined the offer, he showed us a serviette folding trick.Simple, tasty, local cuisine. It gets busy though, so get there early, or wait. Fish and /or pastaHomemade Tira misu

Grom: Florence - Best Gelato

by chuang1111

There's no better ice cream type treats in the world than Italian gelato. There's no better gelato than Grom.If you know Slow Food, you'll know what Grom is about. There are so many great flavors...cannot go wrong with hazelnut; apple is very refreshing.

Il Fico Ristorante: "Simple Dishes, Yet With a Touch of Fantasy"

by Gone2Roma

A charming and offbeat location near the Piazza Navona. The crowd is eclectic, comprised of locals, tourists, and expats. The food is outstanding in all aspects, taste, preparation, and presentation. The Sicilian style swordfish is most excellent. The veal t-bone is equally wonderful.

La Taverna di San Giuseppe: Restaurant used to be a home 200 yrs before Christ

by nancy_1447

Tiny little classy spot. Brick/cave feeling. Some waiters speak English, very nice candle light dinner. As mentioned, the back of the restaurant wine cellar area used to be a home 200 years before Christ, you can go into it escorted, the walls are hand carved sandstone and looks like a single room with a pointed roof. We celebrated a special occasion there and they were very accommodating. The Tiramisu is home made and very delicious. Don't forget to order wine since you are in Tuscany after all. Reservations extremely important since this is a popular spot only the locals know about. Tiramisu (rum soaked cake custard style desert)

Caffe Risorgimento: Great Food

by ellierae

This place was set a few minutes walk away from the Vatican. The staff here really do look after you and give you plenty of time to ponder over the menu. The food was of very high standard.I will go here again on my next trip out to Rome. I had the Penne in spicy tomato sauce, lovely.

La Cappa D`Oro: Great Pizza

by ellierae

I stumbled across this pizzeria one evening after going for a browse around the shops. So the next day I called in and was really well looked after. The choice of pizza in there will make your mouth water.I went in twice while there both at lunch time but next time I will go for the evening one.It is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. I had two pizza while there so they are my faves at the moment

Hotel Fior di Loto.: A restaurant close to Bassano del Grappa.

by Maurizioago

I usually have lunch at this restaurant after a "shopping morning" near Bassano del Grappa.Fior di Loto is a Chinese restaurant and also a good pizzeria. They serve various kind of pizza, lots of Italian dishes and of course Chinese ones. Pizza and pasta.

Al Giubileo: Local feel

by iandsmith

Located on a non main street, this establishment had a "locals eat here" feel about it and had some fare that was different to the normal touristy stuff. Though you wouldn't call it roomy I felt that added to the ambience. You also felt that you weren't going to get ripped off, unlike other establishments nearer the popular tourist attractions. Since we only ate their the once I can only recommend the pasta.
