The original village of Rocchetta Alta (the one you can see up the hill) was almost abandoned after WW2 and a landslide furtherly endangered the constructions, so most of the population now live in Rocchetta Nuova, down in the plain.
It is considered as a 20th century Pompei, a ghost town speaking silently of a not too faraway past.

I was there in December, so I had the chance to see snow on the top of the mountains around Rocchetta. It was an enchanting view!
