Located close to Nardo', these four imposing towers are all that remains of a fortress built in 1600 to protect this area of coastline from Turk and Saracen pirates. The area was particularly attractive to raiders due to a number of freshwater streams; a rare and valuable resource in this dry terrain. As a result it is also possible to see several fortified houses in the vicinity.
The central tower collapsed not long after it was constructed; it's not clear whether this was due to an enemy attack or natural causes. However, the outer towers remain and attract many tourists each year.
