As there is not much to do in this lazy, little town a half-hour drive from Rome. But then it´s the perfect place to relax. Santa Marinella has no tourism except from the Romans heading out for the beach and their summer house, no McDonalds or drunken/sunburnt Brits puking and fighting outside the bars. The beach is crowded on sundays outside the holiday season, but during monday to friday you share sand & sea with a couple of other people (like now, in may). The main street contains some coffee shops, delis, pizza places, perfumery and the stuff you need to do nada. You´ll find two bigger supermarkets with good quality, and a smaller one (Dico) located by the town centre. The locals does´nt speak much english, but you´ll get around fine as people are friendly there. Escpecially to babies - we brought our one year old along, and boy - did he get his share of attention. They LOVE kids in Italy.

Trains run to Rome and nearby cities every half hour, so if small town life gets too boring, jump on the train for a couple of euros.
