This was simply the best restaurant meal we have enjoyed so much in years!!

“Mabrouk” was recommended to us by the owner of our guesthouse. It can be found in the heart of the old town in a very old stone building with typical arched interior ceilings. If it had not been recommended to us we would most probably have passed it by! There is not even a menu outside to peer at - & even once inside, there is STILL no menu!! Looking in from the outside through the small uninspiring entrance there is no clue as to the type of restaurant that it is within, or more unusually, that it only serves seafood!

All the food & drink you consume is included in the set price of €33 per person. Water, wine & so many amazing fish courses that I lost count!!

Followed by fresh fruit salad (even that was delicious!) small cakes/biscuits, coffee & a fabulous shot of Limoncello! Be prepared to feel uncomfortably full when you leave, but totally satisfied with the food, ambience & service!

Pizzza, and more. When we were delayed getting to Alghero it was 11pm or so on a mid-August Sunday as we went looking for a meal. It was looking as if we had missed the boat, until upstairs from Via Roma we found the 900. There was live music wirth a twist -as well as some of the rather younger crowd of diners, all waiters waitresses and cooks took star turns doing the vocals !

What's called "Pizza Alghero" is topped with clams, prawns, mussels and octopus

Good pizza, good wine, good waiting, you can probably get the same laods of other places but central locale catering to latecomers (we were not the last) and the singing made it a surprise night for us. Does more than pizza, but we would certainly go back for another

Pizzeria Rosticceria Gastronomia da Gianna is in the Centro Storico; near the large tourist information site which is a few dozen metres further along Via Simon. It is essentially a takeaway although there are seats to sit outside

The roast chicken and potataoes roasted in oil and rosemary were our first from a rosticceria and were absolutely delicious beyond all expectation.

There are several other places for pollo arrosto you may wish to seek out because - quite oddly - chicken does not seem to feature in any of the menus in any of the restaurants in Alghero. Of course, they are very big on all sorts of fish and amy number of various seafood dishes, and veal, steak and beef were everywhere, but when the mood strikes you for chicken.....?..... we recommend da Gianna !

Huge slices of Sardinian bread

Another little gem recommended by our guesthouse owner was “Foccacia”. This is a typical Sardinian bar/café that serves the most delicious sandwiches (amongst several other little snacks available).

The huge flat loaves of bread are sliced across the whole width, filled to order from a vast choice on a menu, cut into equally huge wedges & served wrapped in a serviette! At around €2 or under, they are an incredible bargain guaranteed to satisfy any hunger pangs for a few hours!

The really good thing about this place was that it was a veryshort walk from the 'start' of the beach (if you come in from the Centro Storico) and it was obviously quite smart - but we were still welcome for a lunchtime pizza in our sand and sandals

Nice tuborg beer with my favourite napoletana (anchovies) pizza. Had fruit to follow, served whole on ice, we ate some and tooksome back for our afternoon tanning session

Next time going to try this at night. Lovely fountain at the entrance.

Possibly the best pizza we have ever had!

Just a shame the service was not too good - we could see several people receiving the incorrect choice of food around us!! I think this was because the wait staff were too rushed & not paying enough attention to what the customers were ordering!

In a great location in the centre of the old town. Sit inside or outside in the sun & while away an hour or more at lunchtime, or make an evening of it!

The pizzas really were excellent but there was a lot of other choice on the menu such as salads, pasta dishes etc.

Forget the classic 'pizzeria': Pocoloco's special is the 'pizza al metro', wich means 1/2 a meter, a meter or multiples of thin and crispy pizza, served sliced on long wood tables. You can choose 4 different flavours for meter, that's perfect if you want to share with friends or simply savour different tastes in the same pizza! Other italian specialities are available on the menu guide, as different kinds of pasta, salads an combinated plates. This local offers good quality live music, usually jazz but not only (see prospectus month by month on the website), bowling in a separated area, and has an internet point open from 7.00 pm

Pizza quattro formaggi e pomodoro con rucola! Ottima!!!

Having walked about 7 km without a break (enjoyably but briskly!) from Alghero to Fertilia we were in need of a satisfying lunch & hard earned carafe of wine!

We plumped for the first restaurant that we came to that looked like it would fit the bill – & came away an hour later more than satisfied with our random choice!

A friendly & efficient restaurant that was surprisingly busy for a Saturday lunchtime in this quiet small town.

Between 2 of us we enjoyed a plate of clams & mussells, a great pizza & of course the obligatory carafe of chilled local white wine. All were excellent!

This is a small bar-diner near the beach which is open for drinks at night and does modest snacks and a modest set menu. Seating to the steet side and Ok for a grubby lunch time break from the beach!

Decent salad to be had but best bet is the authentically Sarde malloredus pasta of tomato. meat and saffron. Cold Tuborg 'birra alla spina'
