Andrea very kindly recommended a few restaurants to us. Being a Slow Food supporter, we knew we couldn't go wrong.
The first we tried was called Ristorante Andreini. We loved the interior - beautiful stone walls with an arched ceiling and an interesting mix of paintings on the walls. The service was excellent and professional.
Favorite Dish: Everything was delicious so here is what we had:
Starters - Smoked salmon on a slab of fresh ricotta with a mild mustard sauce and on a bed of rocket, Slices of tomatoes topped with slices of botarga (fish roe, dried and compressed into a block which is then shaved like cheese - a Sardinian specialty).
Pasta - gnoccetti (gnocci shaped pasta) with pesto, eggplant and zuccini, spaghetti with prawns
Mains - large prawns dressed in olive oil, steak with lightly fried potatoes
Dessert - crema catalana - like a heavy custard (vanilla pudding to Americans) with a burnt sugar topping; sort of a richer version of creme brulee.

As we were on a budget we didnt eat out, only once at a pizzeria in Fertilla, and that was minging anyway! and that was only a takeaway!
its pretty cheap to self cater, so worth doing if youre on a budget!

So many restaurants and so little time would sum up our culinary experiences. The vast majority of which were excellent. One of the best and strangely one of the cheapest was Veccio Mullino. Reasonably limited menu but anything we had (and we had most things!) was excellent. Pizzas to die for. After eating there a few times you ended up being treated like family. Unlike many restaurants in bigger cities, the few words of Italian I have were welcomed and encouraged, rather than being sneered at. Other highly recommendeds were:
Casablanca: Cheap and cheerful and outdoor dining. Superb pizzas
Maciovello: On the sea walls and at the higher end of the market
La Murgalia: Again on the sea walls with great seafood. Mid price
Bella Napoli: Cheap and cheerful with a wide menu. Wonderful vaulted ceilings.
One to avoid: Nettuno. Terrible service, poor food and over priced. Great views though.

This was a nice saefood restaurant located on the harbour walls, overlooking th yatchs harbour. The entrance is at a narrow alley near the harbour.

It's an Italian restaurant despite the name. Good tasty pizzas for us here, and even found room for a dessert too, Sardinian cheese pie - unusual and very enjoyable.
Forgot my camera this time!
