Great Food But Know the Hours

by tom.clementson

I enjoyed a great meal every time out. The combination of seafood and pasta worked well for me. Very important that you understand that many places serve large meals during midday and pizza at night. I had to adjust my eating schedule accordingly. The seafood spaghetti was worth the wait. Fine spaghetti pasta with a yummy tomato sauce and shellfish...definitely my favorite on this trip. The pizza is also great if you like a thin crust. For dessert; try the tiramisu. A meal is an event so be prepared to spend some time and enjoy the experience. Costs were very reasonable...just remember that you pay for refills just like most places in Europe.

The Clipper: Shiver me timbers

by tomhoward

The Clipper is located just off the main road, to the back of the ship yard on Porto Cervo marina. This was a great little restaurant and I can't fault any of the meals we had there... it made a welcome change to the hotel food we were getting bored of towards the end of the holiday. All the usual suspects are on the menu.. shrimps, tuna, sea bass etc as well as a couple of meat options for all you land lubbers. After a mix up with the lobster portion, we ended up paying twice as much as expected (you can't look too shocked when the bill comes - this is a billionaires playground, so pretend you're shocked how cheap it is $$), but we came back anyway cos it was so good. Service is excellent. Don't think you will be disappointed with anything you order here. House red wine was the best we tasted throughout Italy.

Sardinia has a plethora of great restaurants as you can imagine, which suit every taste and every budget. My rule of thumb when looking for a good restaurant when you find yourself in unfamiliar territory is eat where the locals eat.Fresh produce straight from the farm or sea to the table. Fish dishes are exceptional as is the pasta. Salad nicoise is great if you are watching your figure.

On the Boat - Lady Anne of FifeI love being spoilt rotten at times. You were left to relax in the lap of luxury. Absoloutly everything was first class and cooked to perfection by the on board chef.
