In a nutshell
The perfect beach holiday with lots of holidaying Italians. Lovely.
alectrevor Says: The narrow guage train goes from Sassari to Alghero and takes about 30 minutes. There is also a bus service.Alghero is a nice seaside resort with an old town c entre. The train station in Alghero is a 20 minutes walk from the sea front. Make sure you take the correct road....

bonio Says: The narrow streets either side of Corso Vittorio Emanuele are worth exploring, mostly very narrow, admire the drivers skill getting their cars around - no way would I attempt it!
bonio Says: Large Cathedral pretty much hidden in the backstreets, open 9-12 daily so we missed it but still looks good from the outside.
bonio Says: Large square and a popular Sunday morning meeting place. Statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II in pride of place.
bonio Says: Large modern museum showing the long history of human occupation of the area, starting from the prehistoric. Lots of artefacts on display, particularly enjoyed the mosaic flooring and small art exhibition. Very good value at €2 entrance fee.
