our heads don't really look like this by tomhoward Having a drink on "The Piazza" in Porto Cervo will cost you an arm & a leg. We knew it would be expensive, but went there for a drink on our last night. Had a choice of about 3 bars, and went for the one that looked cheapest. I foolishly thought that by refusing all the olives, crisps, nuts etc that the waiter brought with the drinks, the bill would be bearable. FORGET it, and take what he gives you. I suspect they charge the same anyway. Bill for 1 bottle of Becks and a Gin & Tonic was 19 euros $$ and we were sat on plastic chairs .. ;-) This is a stunning location, but the bar was definately NOT all that.
If you're reading this and thinking of going to Porto Cervo, then 19 euros for 2 drinks probably won't make you flinch. This resort is one of the best I've been to, but the wealth (and financial stupidity) of the majority of people who go here is astounding.
Buy a bottle of Blue Nun from the supermarket and swig it behind the taxi rank, before throwing up all over the Gucci shopfront. Only joking Aga ! (in-joke for all you Porto Cervo types) Leave a Comment

As any google search will reveal, there are thousands of booking sites for Sardinia. Please be very careful as many of them are just resellers of resellers of resellers of sardinia travel agents. They just add extra commissions to prices of things without any kmowledge of what they are selling. I would suggest to search for truly local operators, as for example Hosteras.it, that provide updated information, pictures and right prices. Always check if they are real operators with an address, a phone number etc. and check that they have main offices in Sardinia's main towns as Cagliari, Sassari, Alghero, Olbia etc.
Check prices and availability, photos, descriptions, double check everything before entering your credit card nubers.
Prefere italian and sardinian web sites, those all have a .it (Italy) extension. Probably a .com.au website will just be a reseller of some sardinian operator. Leave a Comment
