Where to shop for glass in Venezia
Not all glass products which are being sold in Venezia are made in Murano. Too much is out there which is the usual cheap Chinese faked crap that will break sooner than wanted. Of course Murano made glass is not cheap, at least not as cheap as this counterfeited crap. The best Murano made products are being sold on Murano island of course. The island is easily accessible by Vaporetto line no. 41/42 from Fondamenta Nuove (in northern Canaregio). Murano has an excellent glass museum, Museo del Vetro, which gives a rough idea of the typical designs and techniques which were invented on the island and which stand for Made in Murano. But also with a little common sense it is very easy to find shops in Venezia which sell Murano made glass. But then, these are not on Ponte di Rialto of course.
