Multiple Mercatos!: Florence's Markets
One of Florence's greatest attributes, to me, is its mercatos (markets). You will find yourself getting lost in these places. They run the gamut from tourist centered to those catered to locals, but whichever ones you chose, you will not be disappointed. I’ve listed my two favorites here, but there are numerous others throughout the city. Mercato Centrale: Beginning with the epicenter for epicurean delights, Mercato Centrale is your one-stop shop for all things edible. The dazzling array of fruits, meats, vegetables, and cheeses is enough to make your salivary glands run at full speed, and you would do well to get your picnic needs here, as they are the freshest and, most often, cheapest gets in town.Mercato San Lorenzo: In this market a short walk from the Duomo, you will find all the leather goods you could possibly want.
