The staircase of Santa Maria del Monte is the main landmark of Caltagirone, there are exactly 142 steps and each one is decorated with different hand-decorated ceramics. If I am the cheaf of Caltagirone would call all inhabitants to stand on the staircase fulfilling it from the bottom till its top. It could be imemorable picture.
Once in a year, as I was told, the staricase is decorated by the flowers in ocasion of some local holiday.
