Two Large restaurants about 5 stores apart. Great decor with wood oven for pizzas. The large menu and portions makes swapping and sampling between guests ideal.
Favorite Dish: The set dishes are great: 4 - 5 courses for 20 - 35 Euros. We shared the different ones to get a great selection of different Sicilian dishes. Those that ordered the Swordfish Spada were very pleased. I also had Antepasta rustica once shared and once for myself. Excellent and tasty with changes for freshness between the two days. They gladly substituted items to accommodate my diet.
After climbing La Rocca, we headed to the cathedral. But before that, we decided to grab something to eat. Bar Duomo was right there at the Piazza Duomo and, being a Sunday, was one of the few places open to eat. We each got a slice of pizza and a soda; Hubby naturally went back for gelato. The pizza was okay – I think we were just hungry. But the gelato hit the spot! And right around the corner from Bar Duomo were the public bathrooms.
The service was friendly and quick; we ate outside in the piazza at their tables. It was relaxing as we rested from our La Rocca hike while people watching. Bar Duomo is not a place for a long meal, but for a quick slice of pizza, gelato, or one of their pastries it was perfect.
This is a very nice cafe located on the corner of the Piazza in front of the Duomo. The tables are nicly situated to take in the scene.
The cafe and service were very good. It seemed a little less expensive that table service in Rome. There is a nice counter if you wish to stand as well.
They have cafe in the morning and harder drinks in the evening. There are light snacks available as well.
This place has a very nice energy.
Favorite Dish: We had a very nice cafe and pastry in the morning here.
Mike had a nice beer and we had a glass of wine here in the evening. They were all very nice.
A wondeful restaurant with very nice service stuff is the Al Gabbino.
We stay there at a evening in March 2010. The menu card is voluminous, elaborate and with a good price level.
If you get a place at the big window, you can look outside and see the bay of Cefalú.
Dont miss this...
Favorite Dish: We take fish with a cream of pine nuts, fennel and something else. To it rice.
Nice and very good.
Trappitu is one of those places where you walk in and think you've made a mistake by doing so. On a warm day, just keep walking and you will come to a beautiful cantilevered terrace hanging over the ocean. We always eat at Trappitu when we're in Cefalu. On a calm day, the terrace is opened up and you eat with the waves lapping against the rocks below.
Favorite Dish: Being a creature of habit I always eat the pesce fritte. Fresh calamari, red mullet, coda di rospa, and anything else that happens to be fresh that day.
Chilled bottle of Nero d'Avola
We normally didn't have any dessert in the restaurants, but had gelati after dinner. This place is the best there is in Cefalu.
Favorite Dish: Try the fragola (strawberry) icecream and the limone. You can also ask for a cono (cone) with two flavours if you can't decide!
Lovely restaurant in a small courtyard. Although there was scafolding at the time we were there, it didn't take away from the charm of the place.
Favorite Dish: The fish couscous was especially lovely, and the calamari just melted in your mouth.
Lovely food and extremely friendly service. When ordering the wine we were shown an entire brochure of where the wine comes from. Just off the Piazza Duomo.
Favorite Dish: Try the 'Zuppa di Cozze' here, it's delicious!
There are several good restaurants in the center of Cefalu, the menus are more or less the same. If you want seafood you're in the right place. We went only to restaurants where we could sit outside which sometimes was difficult with 6 people. With a starters (antipasta), main dish, wine and beverages we spend on average €120 for 6 people.
We stopped for lunch our first day in Cefalu and were so impressed with the service and the food that we went back the next night for dinner. We were not disappointed. It is a small trattoria with only about 10 tables inside and 5 or 6 outside on the sidewalk. The ambiance inside was lovely--very nice, but not elegant. We had the same wonderful waiter who showed that he remembered us, which is always a nice touch. The place filled up quickly with both locals and tourists. The food was freshly prepared and typical Sicilian. The added fun was that when they were pretty much done serving dinner, the waiter set up a microphone and began taking requests for music. We had a wonderful evening singing Italian songs.
This was not in any of the guide books I have, so I used the internet to find the address and phone number.
Favorite Dish: The local wine was great, the fresh mozzarella, we had fish, pasta, sausage. I don't keep track of what I eat, just overall if I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and if it seemed like a fair price. We had a wonderful meal, for 2, with a bottle of wine, coffee, desert and an after dinner wine and my price, converted to dollars was $53.39
Pleasant spot to sit inside or out a few minutes walk from the beach, another option to snack and avoid the sun for an hour in ferragosoto!
Favorite Dish: Found the lovely iced pastries baccellati here - no one does pastries like the Sicilians !
Two savoury pasty-come-paninis, hot tea and a 660ml cold Tuborg beer as well as the aforementioned delicacies cost a princely Eu7 sit in !
A fast food option, the premises looks like a McDonalds restaurant inside, serving burgers, pizza slices salads and pastas.
Good to feed two of you for less than Eu10 when you are in your beachwear and covered in sand !
Favorite Dish: Insalata Mediterraneo was made with salad, tuna and balsamic vinegar-olive oil dressing. Cost Eu3, cold drinks you fetch from the fridge yourself at Eu1.60 Baconburger costs Eu2.80. Pasta wirth sardines (con sarde) an authentic for an authentic Sicilian take.
Firs of all I have to say: GREAT food and very, very nice people working there.
It is a nice, small restaurant with a little terace on the street. During working hours of the restaurant the traffic is forbidden so it is very nice to be on a terace which is in one of the nice Chefalu's narrow streets.
Whatever I tasted was really great (and it is not very easy to impress me with the food)!
Prices are very good!
As almost all the restaurants they work in shifts: in the morning till the 14:45 and evening from19 I think. It is better to make a reservation because they are usually full.
Favorite Dish: Spaghetti alla trapanese
Spaghetti al tonno e limone
Why? It is simple food that tastes great. You have to taste it and you'll understand me :-)
