Mondello Things to Do

  • Club on the Pier

This is a private club out on its own pier in Mondello. It is well worth the modest price to have a short-term membership and access to all their facilities. Just beautiful!!

  • Surprise! - Arena La Sirenetta

Surprise - an open air movie theater - we watched movies from the back terrace of our Mondello apartment.

  • Take in Sunrise and Sunset

Everyone watches the sunset from little cafes along the beach or right in the sand - but try to catch a sunrise also. The restaurant owners are there at the beach - buying the day's fresh catch from the fishermen - a great experience. I often chose my lunch or dinner there with the owner! Only in Mondello did I have this lovely experience!

    The Roxy Panineria, Piazza Mondello

The 'Pizza Roxy' were small pizzas maybe 6 " diameter served on what was more like toasted French bread than pizza dough. Different.

Favorite Dish: The Pizza Roxy house recipe type snack was enough mid afternoon so that we were still ready for dinner come 7-30 or 8pm.

    Pizza Rocy about Eu2.50

    660ml Becks bier Eu4

Can ice tea Eu2 sitting outside. Cheap!

The far end of the beach coming from Palermo

From Palermo Stazione Centrale, but a Eu1.05 ticket from the Tabacchi.

Take the 101 bus from Piazzza Guilio Cesare all the way up Via Roma to the end - Piazza Sturzo. There is usually a group of 4 buses sat waiting to go - take the bus number 806 which takes you to Mondeloo in about 25 minutes.

At one point it turns off the road alongside the beach - sit tight if that is where you are going it just takes a detour and goes back to the coast road

Palermo is Off the beaten Path? Well, if you are based in Mondello - it is! My sweet driver, Pippo, took me to specific places I wanted to see in Palermo - and, around Sicily to special hideaway gems.
Here is the old St Francis of Assisi Church in Palermo - amazing!
