Falcone Borsellino Airport at Punta Raisi by Paisleypaul, 1 more photos The Metropolitana runs from Stazione Centrale to Punta Raisi, stoppoing right at Falcone Borsellino Airport. It cost Eu4.50 one way, both station and airport are the end of the line. Note - although this is an underground it leaves at street level from the central station. normally the highest numbered platform on the far right. A taxi cost us EU45 from the airport, on our taxi to the station we were offered a ride all the way to the airport for EU40. Leave a Comment

Our big blue bird... 8) by kedi+ We had Volareweb airlines... I reckon they used the crisis on airplanes in a good way and entered the market.. We had a nice flight with this new Italian company. We had the airplane from Marco Polo Airport, Venice to Falcone Borsellino, Punto Raisi and the flight lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

The Palermo port is right by the city. You can walk from the port but keep in mind that Palermo is huge and the distances are long. It is the best to use the buses. There is a Tourist Information stall right at the exit from the port (after you pass all the pestering taxi drivers) with a helpful guy who knows English well. He will give you a Palermo map and explain about the bus numbers and where to get them. Beware the taxi drivers! They keep pestering you even if you want to visit only one place and they just go on and on saying that they will take you for 100 EUR for three places. That is far too much! Even if you are sharing the cost with friends. Keep in mind: a bus ticket costs only 1 EUR and you get to ride with the locals. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

by piccolina I've gone in Palermo by ship, leaving from Genova. In this way tre trip is longer, about 22 h, but it's really a wonderful way to trip...! In other way the plane is really more fast..! You'll arrive directly at Falcone e Borsellino Airport. More info: Grimaldi Lines, Aereoporto Falcone e Borsellino on line Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Driving in Palermo? Would I do it? No way! The traffic is chaotic, streets are packed with cars and parking seems hopeless. Better to walk or use buses. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

These lovely horse carriages are seen on the street and they must be expensive. I don't know about prices , but it must be something like gondolas in Venice. If I had too much money I would love to ride caretto in the streets of Palermo! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Our travelmate... by kedi+ When we arrived to Palermo Airport, after taking our luggages we went directly to Avis'. In our pocket programme they were offering us a C class car also... So they gave us a small, cute Corsa and we started to drive through Palermo. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

You can get to Palermo by airplane, landing in Punta Raisi airport. flights from quite all Italian airports and some major foreign ones (London, Bruxelles, Paris). Then take the train to Palermo Central Station or the bus to Piazza Politeama. If you want to visit only the city (and not the surroundings) don't rent a car that will only be a problem for you in the chaotic traffic of the center. You can also reach the city by way of sea from Naples, Genoa, Livorno and Cagliari, in Sardinia. Moving across the city you can use the orange buses that cover quite all the area, taking you as far as Mondello, the wonderful beach of Palermo. They're trying to give the city an underground, but the service is very poor by now, so prefer the surface. Taxis are rather cheap, but the traffic is often jammed, so consider walking as a good choice. If you want to visit the outskirts of Palermo and the surrounding towns, rent a car in one of the many agencies or you won't be able to reach your lodging after some nightlife! Best choice is a scooter. Park on the sidewalks if you don't obstruct the passage, policemen will tolerate it. Leave a Comment Theme: Train
