See the ruins for sure. Also go to the coast and spend the afternoon with the locals in the water and on the rocks or at least watching the fun!
Fondest memory: Walking the streets at night with all the locals and enjoying the families and fun they all have together.
Favorite thing: Taormina: this is a town that has become terribly resortized. Still, it's worth a look, if only for the amazing theater. We came here as the sun was setting, and after a while had it practically to ourselves.
Fondest memory: At one point we were on a road out of town--I think it was Taormina--and coming toward us was a huge, I mean hug, pig! It was just trotting along, oblivious of the traffic in its sublime pigginess. The contradictions of Sicily in a nutshell.
Favorite thing: I found this somewhere in the middle of Ortygia.... not the best shot, but I was attracted by a nice looking inner yard, which reminded me a lot of Spain....
ERICE must be seen. VISITE ERICE in the early morning . It will not be so crowded .
It is located near MARSALA
Fondest memory: FORTRESS of ERICE
