Cassaforte meaning safe deposit box

At the end of our stay at Fiesta Hotel Garden Beach Campofelice di Roccella we received our bill and found our that they had charged us for a safe which we did not ask for. Of course the had to deduct the price of 7.50€ but other guest paid this price because they did not notice it also because they did not understand the word Cassaforte. Bring your own beach towels as you have to pay a deposit of 20€ for each towel and 5€ each for the laundry when you give it back- Always go through your bills and if you dont understand ask them to explain.

"Coperto" You are paying extra for the tablecloth

Il "coperto": This extra charge is added to the bill for the tablecloth, plates, glasses, napkin and cutlery.For example "Coperto 2 €. per person. If on your bill there is no "Ricevuta fiscale" and only a handwritten bill then you are helping the restaurant owner to cheat the state of its taxes. Ask for the official bill and dont throw it away because it could be that 100 meters away from the restaurant a tax detective might be waiting to control you. DON'T GIVE ALL YOUR MONEY TO THE TAXI DRIVER......

Be very careful when travelling with a taxi. On our first night we had almost spent all of our money in taxis.. how? Taxi drivers tend to drive you all the way through Sicily before taking you where you want to go in order to charge you more. A 10 min drive from the airport to the hotel costs us 30 Euros each as the taxi driver decided on taking us for a tour before taking us to our final destination ..... Now that they have distance meters you cannot ask a Taxi Driver how much it would cost before actually taking up a taxi but at least you can ask the amount of time it would take to arrive to your destination. As an alternative I suggest Public Transport which is far cheaper and also efficient. I only suggest a taxi from and to the airport but for cruising around use public transport or ... you might be so lucky to meet some locals ready to drive you around ;)

The entrance fees to all major sights have been more than doubled since the introduction of the Euro. There used to be a flat entrance fee of ITL 4.000, .Now you will be charged EUR 4.50 which is approximately ITL 10.000,- .

When you go to Sicily you should know that in the big cities a lot of things get stolen. Before you know it they have taken your wallet, mobile phone,... out of your backpack or purse. Keep backpack or purse always in front of you or where you can always see it. Leave most of your money and valuable things in a save place in your hotel room. Don't take to many money with you when you go to the city.
