Hiking in Alto Adige: enchanting

by Trekki

Dolomiti (or Dolomites for non-Italians) is prime hiking in northern Italy and well known among alpinists and day hikers alike. But it can be crowded during the season and also more on the expensive side. For those who seek the less hiked paths without having to relinquish splendid scenery, the northern part of Italy’s region Alto Adige (Südtirol in local language) is an excellent alternative. Especially the valleys of Alta Val Isarco (Wipptal) and Val Isarco (Eisacktal) are of a special beauty with mountains up to 3200 m. The website below mentions a total of more than 17.000 km of hiking trails. My most favourite parts are the mountains around Mules (Mauls) I stayed several times in a little pension of a mountain farmer family and we did amazing day hikes through splendid nature. Especially in late spring and autumn it is marvellous with meadows in full wildflower blossom and an...

Wilderness hiking in Val Grande

by Trekki

The majority of hiking trails in Italy’s northern regions are well marked and dotted with service huts (refugio, refugi in Italian) which provide meal and food service and beds. But there are still some wilderness parts with prime hiking paths, although for backpackers with serious backcountry experience and physical fitness only. Val Grande is certainly one of these. The name “Val” (valley) is a little bit misleading because Val Grande is more of a system of small valleys surrounded by high mountains which almost form a circle. It is located northwest of Lago Maggiore, points of entry are Malesco (from the east and north) and Cicogna (from the south). I cannot say anything about public access since we came by car but doubt that there is a regular bus service to the houses at the end of the entry roads.Hiking in this pristine wilderness is magnificent. The trails aren’t well marked as a...

Main Stadium, Chianciano Terme

by hopang

This is the main stadium in the spa resort city of Chianciano Terme and is principally used for local football matches between towns and villages in Tuscany region. It is the only outdoor stadium in Chianciano Terme. The stadium has a covered grandstand which has a seating capacity for approximately two thousand spectators. It is floodlighted and can be used in the evening and at night. The stadium has also been used for other local sporting events such as the athletic meet, public gathering and public functions occasionally. Take the opportunity to watch some good local football matches especially during the weekends when you are having your vacation in Chianciano Terme!

Small Motorboat Rental

by MonicaLouise

As a treat to myself when visiting Positano, I rented a small rubber motor boat. Being the complete nautical novice I was a bit apprehensive but was assured by the female German manning the booth that "If I can do it, you can do it." With this boost to my confidence, I bit the bullet and boarded for an hour rental. This was SO much fun - I highly recommend it for something out of the ordinary. I cruised up the shore to Amalfi and back, taking photos and gawking at some of the private bayside establishments that can only be seen from the water. The price is a bit steep but if you can budget it in, this is well worth it. Sunscreen a must - no shade on the smaller rubber boat that I rented.

Hitting the Powder on the Alps

by ashley05p

Let's just say skiing in the Alps was the bext skiing ever! The beautiful mountains, combined with the perfect weather, and the fresh powder made it the ultimate winter experience! We stayed at a small chalet in the ski resort town of La Thuile. Because the town is so small, English is very uncommon and you find yourself immersed in the Italian culture (and not around all of the English speakers in the more touristy spots) Take a few days, relax, and enjoy the slopes and from La Thuile, you can ski across the border to La Rosiere, France! You can bring your own skis if preferred but there are plenty of places to rent equipment as well. Bring warm clothes!!

SandBag part II

by dr.firas

Again the pictures seems as if I am catching the sandbag to balance it like this in the air, you have to know the truth it was moving in this voilance way right after a super fly kick, ask Dannie and Els if you don't believe LOL

SandBag!

by dr.firas

Dannie was naughty enough to take pictures and laughing at me while I was fighting that sandbag, actually the fact that I was faster in my movements than Dannie's fingers to catch the movement in the right moment, has gave a results of some funny not correct pictures here LOL

Hiking

by dr.firas

Hiking is the best sport you'll be obliged to do once you're in Venice, as I said before the whole city is a beaten path, so you will have to walk and walk, but this is really nice, no other way is better than this, meanwhile you're doing sport!

The challenge

by iandsmith

This slab of rock, known as Sass Pordoi, is simply awesome. Situated in Val di Fassa, Hollywood has noticed it and has been here. In places the cliff is a sheer 864 metres. When you stand within 100 metres of it, as I have after skiing off the top, I can tell you it is overpowering. There a long piece of rope rocking in the breeze where someone has ascended. It's amazing to contemplate that anyone would even think about trying. This is definitely one for the experienced climber only.

I was part of the scout group "Le Masche" in Italy. I loved going hiking every two weeks, with the tents, sleeping bags and supplies for the trip. Italians have a close encounter with nature, they like exploring and experiencing new adventures.I did some sky throughout the winter in Bardoneccia (close to France), Monte Cervinio (next to Switzerland), Sestrieres and Salice d'Ulzio, two places with wonderful tracks and lots of fresh snow....
