Teolo Things to Do

  • Luvigliano

Luvigliano is a tiny village with a lot to offer, it is about 30 minutes driving from Padova and it lay in a area very rich in vineyards and agriturismo and enoteca with a great food and wine offer. The church is a little gem, it is definitely worth a stop to take a look inside. The Villa dei vescovi was the summer residence of Padova bishops in the...

  • Teolo center

Teolo is on a hill and it is a very small village, the best quality is that, when down in the flat area it is hot and humyd, up here there is often a nice breeze and a few degrees cooler. The center is compact and the Palazzetto dei Vicari shown in the picture was built in the 1600 as a local ruler residency. It is now part of the Municipality...

  • Torreglia alta

After you drove through Torreglia follow the direction for Castelnuovo, after a few curves you will see a small cemetery on the left, turn left and park the car in front of the cemetery. There is a paved trail that will take you to the old church of Torreglia, they are restoring it but it is really nice.Keep walking and you will see some old farms...

Teolo Restaurants

  • Excellent agriturismo

The place is located at the bottom of the hills in a green area surrounded by vinyards. My family has been personal friends of the owner for years and their sons have won numerous awards for their cooking. The wall is covered with this awards and also awards presented to Alfonso to his wine production. They also make their own salami and each...

  • Great local food and pizza

This is one of my favourite stop for a informal lunch or dinner in Teolo. It is an historical Trattoria, used to be quite small and rough but, as almost all the restaurant of the area, it have been nicely restored. There is multiple dining rooms, the walls are made of stones and they have an exhibit of old tools from the rural past of the...

  • Outstanding view of the Padova area

I remember going to eat in this place since i was a little kid. This trattoria have always been here. Now it is of course much nicer and it transformed in a real good restaurant. The cook is always researching for better use of the local ingredients and their food is always excellent tasting and presented. If you decide to ride on top of this hill...

Even if there are buses coming here, it would be much much better to rent a car. Mostly of the places with the better view or the most interesting Trattoria or the nicer hikes are hard to reach without a car. Get a good map and just drive around, the scene will change at every turn and give you a sight of vineyard, olive tree, fruit tree and forest.

Rocca Pendice is a rough rocks that stick out in the middle part of the hills. It is the historical training rock face for the Padova's mountain climbing school. Since I was a kid I remember looking up the cliff with my binocula to watch the climbers slowly go up.
It is not a easy climb so dont go there just by youself, it need the proper skills and equipment.

Favorite thing: This imponent Abbey have been here since the XI century. It lies on the foot of the Colli Euganei, driving from Padova to Teolo you will see it on your left after you pass Feriole and San Biagio villages.
The benedectine monks live in it. It is a famous place for ancient book restoration and for the honey production. Even if the monks population is significantly reduced this place is still one of the most important of the area.
It is possible to visit the Abbey every day with this timetable:
    Sunday and Holidays:
    Regular hours: 2:30, 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, 4:30 p.m.
    Daylight saving: 3:30, 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, 5:30 p.m.

    Weekdays
    Regular hours: 2:30, 3:10, 3:50, 4:30 p.m.
    Daylight saving: 3:30, 4:10, 4:50, 5:30 p.m.

The visit will include the library, several cloisters and the church.

Here their site Abbazia Benedettina di Praglia for more informations.

Fondest memory: My grandmother used to take me here very often. My memories are about the Abbeys but more, I like to go back to remember her and the stories she liked to tell me about the place. She was fond of the place as she used to live nearby and vidited it since she was born.
