Beautiful fresco's at Herculaneum!

For me the most amazing part in Herculaneum was seeing these fresco's. The vibrant colours and thinking of how long ago they were painted on these walls just amazed me.

Sorrento was our home base to the Amalfi Coast. From here, we visited Pompeii, Amalfi and Ravello. For more information, see my Sorrento page.

I can only speak from experience. The West-Northern route will take you to Roma, Firenze and Venezia. This way, you can hit the major cities and see some of the countryside as well.

I really love Modena, it's west of Bologna, and a very cool and classy town. I'd also hit Sienna and Lucca - both interesting and not too sleepy. Go wine tasting!
There is so much to see in Florence alone! If you have to choose between Florence and Pisa, pass on the Tower.
This looks an excellent place to visit, unfortunately I arrived late at night, was driven to a restaurant, and left early morning so my tips are rather limited.
