If you're traveling from Florence to Sangimingano be advised you can't get there by train. From Florence, you need to get a train to Poggibonsi. From Poggibonsi you can grab a local bus in front of the station or walk into town and grab a TRA-IN bus from there. When you're leaving, same thing. Take a bus back to the Poggibonsi Station and go from there. To get to Orvieto from Sienna...check the schedules at the station. You may have to catch a bus from Sienna to Chuisi then transfer at Chuisi to a train to Orvieto.Be aware that there are only 4 cabs in entire town of Orvieto. You may have to wait at peak periods. Good luckednanni

Well, to the main land I got with night train, which is a rather good way, not to expensive, and I slept well in it.To Scily we flew with Sobel Air, and it was not that super experience, on our way home, we should leave Sicily at 23.00 but we only took of 5.30 the next morning. And to top this, the stewardesses were in a real bad mood. Not a very good publicity !With trains and busses, you might get around rather good in Italy.

Train is always the best. I found the train service in Italy to be great, although the people on the trains were a bit annoying and ALWAYS on the cell phones.I also flew out of the airport in Rome and found it to be very nice and efficient. So, flying there is a great optionTrain is good here too. I never rented a car, so I am not sure about that.Drivers are a bit scary here, and the roads are very windy and confusing (especially in the small towns). Renting a car could be nice, but be careful! The mopeds are crazy, so watch out!

Quite obvious, isn't it? ;) Yes,car was useful, especially for learning to drive! lol Trains are very good too. for shedules, prices click here. N.B. ES class trains are almost double in price than normal, usual trains. time of those trains and ES differ in 10-15 minutes and ordinary trains are really good - soft seat, fast, smoking-non smoking vagons, there's no need to paying double and going with ES class. Bussystems in big cities are good e.g. Rome. Places lioke Ravenna - bicycle is useful. And most useful mean of all - your feet, everywhere, like italians say - a piedi!

You can fly there, go by car, or go by train depending upon where you are departing from. All the major cities are linked by air and train routes and getting there is very easy. You can hire taxis that are easily available. You also have the underground trains at your disposal. These are by far the fastest and cheapest way to get around. But when you are in Venice, its slightly different, you need to either walk or you can hire a Gondola, the little boats that you can find floating around in the water, while you are in Venice.

From Florence you can take a bus or the train. I took the train and it was really only about 45 minutes or an hour. When you get to the train station you need to take a shuttle bus into Siena. It is extremely inexpensive and only takes about 15 minutes. Once you are in Siena you can walk all about. It's a small town.

Well to get to Italy is first find the nearest airport in your community. Fly to a city that has big airliners and fly to France. From there go to Rome. Then from there injoy! To get back fly out of Rome or eny other city in Italy to the next nearest airport or a big airliner airport to your home. ENJOY! THIS! SITE!Walk or try and talk a sky train, bus or the cheapest way through Italy. Try and avoud the most expenseve trains, though's are dangerous puppys.

Better leave your car at home. The traffic is absolutely crazy everywhere!!!Here's what Bill Bryson said about Italian parking (Rome) in his book 'Neither here nor there':I love the way the Italians park. You turn any street corner in Rome and it looks as if you've just missed a parking competition for blind people. Cars are pointed in every direction, half on the pavements and half off, facing in, facing sideways, blocking garages and side streets and phone boxes, fitted into spaces so tight that the only possible way out would be through the sun roof. Romans park their cars the way I would park if I had just spilled a beaker of hydrochloric acid on my lap.I was strolling along the Via Sistina one morning when a Fiat Croma shot past and screeched to a smoky halt a hundred feet up the road. Without pause the driver lurched into reverse and came barrelling backwards down the street in the...
