LAURIN kellar: Yummy Italian style American food (or vice versa?)

Chicken WIngs landed near corn on a cob ooh Yummy!

We found this place by chance.
Patiently waiting crowd is usually a good sign.
While waiting for a table, we peaked into plates that were delivered to other tables - huge portions of spare ribs with baked potatoes and chicken wings flying by very frequently, so we figured that’s the house specialty.
    Yes, it is!

Very friendly service, ask for Lucia from Czech Republic and say hello from little Lucia from Slovenia.
She will give you a funny bib, our guys were smiling silly hehehe maybe because of those bibs or because of Lucia I'm not sure.

Favorite Dish: Fantastic! Typically American dish prepared by Italians.
Just gently spicy, so you get the true taste without having your tongue burned.
And steaks were superb, too, and the choice of wine and everything.

Rifugio Friedrich August: Warm nest high above

    Goulash

Rifugio Friedrich August is one very special place - the house, the sculpture of F. August that greets you upon arrival and points towards distant peaks (picture on Intro page), Scottish bulls are gazing in front of the terrace overlooking deep valley.
We saw one paraglider sailing in a distance.

Favorite Dish: The food they serve is fantastic. Meat is - of course - from those bulls.
Goulash on the picture was something special.

They also rent rooms for tourists, during winter you have to leave your car few kilometers away, and they organize transfer on motor sledges. Wow!

Riffiugio Des Alpes: Have a Break!

by KristaB Written Feb 29, 2004

Skiing is great yet demanding - have a break whenever you feel tired. Drinking alcohol sounds like fun, and I admit having a glass of mulled wine once, but my legs became soft and I got tired much faster. So have a cup of tea or juice while skiing. Here we had excellent espresso, enjoying sunshine sheltered from wind behind glass walls.

Favorite Dish: At the same location, there is one self-service restaurant with reasonably good food. The usual stuff - goulash soup, pasta, French-fries …
