Favorite thing: In summer this place is abuzz with boating activity. Australia even had its eighteen footers (the fastest monohulled sailing boats in the world) over there for a round of the international titles. The eighteen footers have no restriction on sail capacity, it just depends how crazy you want to go!
The resort, though basically closed in winter, comes alive as the warmth returns. Though it's not a huge lake, its attractive setting more than compensates and, if you want to see a bigger one, Garda lake is just down the road.

Favorite thing: I had to drive through this diabolical driveway to park adjacent to the hotel. As with most places in Italy, parking is at a premium and I fully understood why the manager of the hotel had a frown when I suggested parking in one the three spots near the front door.
With half a metre either side to spare, it's the narrowest driveway I've ever attempted.

Favorite thing: I lucked out here. The Hotel Milano had just re-opened the week I was there and I got a special deal of bed and breakfast for 30 euros. When my heater clagged out in the middle of the night and I had to rug up to brace myself from the cold I thought they must shut them off during the night but, no, the malfunction, when mentioned, equated to another 15 euros discount.
Thus it was that I only paid 45 euros for two nights in a beautiful setting over the lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Mind you, it was a tad chilly on the balcony but it warmed my heart to see the lovely Aussie wattle blooming in a pot.

Favorite thing: In the breathless morning of another winter's day, the smoke from a hundred fires holds sway over the barren winter branches of the trees.
The still lake surface, so appealing in summer, sends a chill message in the cold post-dawn sunrise.

Favorite thing: For an all too brief period the smog cleared and the splendour of the mountains made itself apparent. This shot is taken from the balcony of the hotel.

Favorite thing: The local chiesa was right beside my accommodation and was floodlit at night. I remember thinking two things: (a) how pretty it was and (b) how grateful I was that the chimes were muffled!
