Hopfen & Co.: Yes, Italy has beer!
Leave it to me to find a brewpub in Italy. Actually, I've been reading that the Italians are making great headway into the brewing of beer. And no small wonder, it is a country of people that appreciate the best of every taste, so why not beer? Hopfen & Co. is unfortunately right in the most touristy part of Bolzano and is hence expensive. But it is worth a visit as it's got a great lively atmosphere and the beers are very good too, especially the Weizen, a great interpretation of the Bavarian summer wheat beer. A small beer (1/3 liter) will set you back 2.60 Euros. You can were pretty much whatever you like and the staff are quite multilingual, English and German are no problem. In general, Italians dress smartly so if you go in the evening, try and look nice.
