    Lavarone.

by Maurizioago Updated Jul 14, 2010

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Lavarone is a plateau formed by 22 villages. There are some buses every day from Trento to this place. The travel takes more or less one hour and a half.

One of the villages I like very much is Piccoli. There are only few beautiful stone houses and a small church built on a rock. There aren't any restaurants, bars shops in there.

One of the highlights of Lavarone is Fort Belvedere. This Austro-Hungarian fort was built between 1908 and 1914. It is a huge building that hosts a first world war museum.

Lavarone also has a nice small lake.

    Lago Santo.

by Maurizioago Updated Jan 9, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Lago Santo literally means "holy lake". It is situated around 1200 meters on the sea level. It is of glacial origin. The names of this lake derives from a legend. Here it is. Two brothers were struggling for the ownership of a piece of land where today stands the lake. One of them sick and tired about this situation said he would have liked that ground to become a lake. Since that moment the ground was flooded and the water was threating the village near the lake. Then the inhabitant of this village, worried about this danger informed the village's priest about this problem and took him there. He threw his ring on the soil and the flood stopped.

This small lake is located some km from Cembra.

Apparently this lake is a good fishing place.

    The Pinè Plateau.

by Maurizioago Updated Jan 1, 2014

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Altopiano di Pinè is a plateau situated around 22 km from Trento. It has two main villages; Baselga di Pinè e Bedollo and many other villages that are part of these. It is located over 900 meters on the sea level.

On this plateau you can spend your time at the two main lakes; lago di Serraia and lago delle Piazze. One of the attraction of this area is a shrine, called "della Comparsa". It is said that in 1729 the Madonna appeared to a pheasant girl.

One of my favourite villages on the plateau is Miola. It is not far from Baselga di Pinè. There you can see lots of ancient stone houses. At Christmas time Miola is called "El Paes dei Presepi" because many cribs are set all around this village Presepe means crib.
