Ristorante Primavera.: This should be the cheapest restaurant in town.

by Maurizioago Updated Apr 8, 2014

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This restaurant is located under the porticoes in via del Suffragio (see tip). Here you can eat in the dining room, in an outside area or under the porticoes.

At ristorante Primavera they serve various kind of first courses; meat dishes and pizzas. Their first courses are big.

I think the prices here are cheaper that at other restaurants in Trento.

Favorite Dish: I' ve tried meat with lemon sauce and a good choice of vegetables. They were very well prepared.

Le Sfiziose.: Slices of pizza to take away.

by Maurizioago Updated Apr 8, 2014

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Here they serve slices of good pizza and also focaccia (it' s a kind of large sandwich).

Le Sfiziose is the right place for a snack after having visited the Cathedral and the surrounding area.

Favorite Dish: I like so much pizza with wurstel or pizza with vegetables.

    Pedavena: Sort of Bavarian food

by draguza Written May 18, 2009
    In the restaurant

It is a nice place, ith stained glass windows, outdoor beer garden and good menu featured wood fire stone ovens pizzas and steaks. Behind the bar you could see 5 large holding tanks with signs noting the name of the beer and the date it was brewed. There are even stainless steel pipes running under the floor showing the flow of beer to the holding tanks.

  • Alla Grotta: Great pasta restaurant

by TheJerboa Updated Jul 24, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you are visiting Trento and want to understand why the Italians are so crazy about their pasta you should visit this restaurant. It serves lots of different kinds, both traditional and newly invented, but what unites them is that they all taste great. Just one thing to remember: if you are not accustomed to the Italian portions don't take one dish per person, ask them to split. From our experience 3 portions is more than enough for 5 persons, especially if accompanied with some salad. And don't take their pizza - it is really not that good as in many other places in the city. Eat pasta! :)

The place can become pretty crowded in the evening, so the reservation is adviced.

Favorite Dish: Tagliatelle con salsa di funghi porcini e tartufo. Tagliatelle (that is different from other types of pasta because there is egg in it) is by far my favourite type of pasta, and with the mushroom sauce it goes along wonderfully.

  • Birreria Pedavena: Local Tirolean Food + Local Tirolean Beer

by TheJerboa Written Jul 23, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Do you think that the Italian cuisine consists of pasta, pizza, seafood and vegetables? Well, you are quite right. But here, in Trentino-Alto-Adige, things are rather different. The Pedavena restaurant serves excellent dishes that consist chiefly of meat (accompanied with some potatoes and crauti). You can also try delicious dumplings called "canederli", which is the trentinian variation of the Bavarian "knoedeln". Together with their great home-brewed beer this can give you the true Tirolean experience.

The prices are moderate, and there is plenty of space inside the restaurant, so normally the reservation is not necessary (just don't forget that they are closed on Tuesdays). There are also people who come there to eat pizza - I personally never risqued that :)

You will pay just 7.40 Euro, and may eat as much as you like: pizza (vegeterian, with beef, ...), macaroni, spegatti, fried potato (french fries), salads of your choices & desserts (cream caramel, panna cotta, ...).

Because of the crowd, I could not get good pictures. Whenever the chef put the hot pizza, the people get the slices (triangles) and finish them within a minute, then they go with it to eat it on their tables.

You need to enlarge photos in order to see the pictures clearly.

    Strangolapreti
    1 more image

Though this restaurant bears a Spanish name, they cook local cuisine.

Arrive early or book in advance. Though it has many tables (340 seats), in several dining rooms, it is often booked out.

It is easier to have a car to get there but VT Maurizioago told me that there were several busses between downtown Trento and Gardolo.

Favorite Dish: We had a very tasty dish (photo) with wild mushrooms and sausage served with polenta (sorry, I forgot the name) and strangolapreti (photo).

Strangolapreti is a traditional dish from the Trentino region. They are small dumplings made of spinach, eggs, bread and flour. They were served with sage butter and grated parmiggiano cheese. It is delicious but not really a light dish! For more, look at my Strangolapreti tip under "local custom".

    The entrance of the restaurant

This restaurant offers traditional dishes of the local cuisine, so it's the best way to discover trentito-Alto Adige sitting ona chair inside or outside the restaurant, on summer time for example. You can also taste many different wines from Trentino.

    Enoteca Sgeva: main activity!

by garibaldi Updated Sep 8, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Sgeva isn't a restaurant but it is the perfect place where tasting wine (from Trentino and all italian region) in a friendly and homely room.

But pay attention to the bottle price: here you could buy a very excellent wine but it could cost more then 50 EURO (50$).

Favorite Dish: If you can't decide your wine, you can ask to the woman who serve you: she is very expert! Let her drive you to discover italian wine with cheese or delicatessen.
