Lovely hill-top town, not over-crowded
Con
not a good transportation net
In a nutshell
I like this town, you will too
Certaldo Alto's most imposing building is the Governor's Palace. Built in the 12th century, it exudes the sense of a different age. Heraldic signs are liberally sprinkled accross the facade, while inside, ancient frescoes cover the walls.

Imagine get in to a restaurant that you feel...at home. Great food, the staff chat with you about the food that you will eat, about the wine, the kitchen it's right by your side, etc.
The food it's very, very, tasty, Great, no hamburguers or anything but pure Toscana local food.
At the end you may write on ane of the walls what you think about your A Casa Tua experience. You may say whatever you want, good or bad.
Take cash with you because when you get there you will notice that it seems that a group of friends decided to open a restaurant and you know...machines are expensive...there are taxes...etc...etc.
If you go to dinner, be aware that you must get to tow ( dow the hill ) by foot. The elevator ( Funiculare) that takes you up, closes at 19.30.
Enjoy the restaurant. Take off your watch, disconect your mobile phone and...live the food!
Favorite Dish: Everything was great.
Pasta was great, lamb was great, pork was great, dessert was great.
If you are not alone, try to ask different dishes and taste them all!!!

Address: When you get off the Funiculare, take right
You don't have to worry about finding good food in Certaldo Alto. There are many places to choose.
Below are signs from one of my favorite ones. It is within 5 minutes walking of the tram.
Favorite Dish: You can't find better Tuscan cuisine than here. Peasant style and also polished.

Address: south of the tram exit
I don't remember the name of this shop, but it is close to the tram stop. There are many of these types of shops, wine shops and be sure and visit the local artists who have set up shop along the main street. You will see painters, ceramists, photographers and more along the way. Their prices are not too bad and you will bring home a souvenir that is specially made by a person, not by a factory.

When you walk through the small village of Certaldo Alto you will see that the citizens take a real pride in their home. People will be out sweeping and dressing up the front of their home. You will also see window boxes of flowers. Be sure and stop and tell the people how nice their home looks. You will make a friend and they will be happy to talk with you.

Favorite thing: When you walk about you will find quaint little scenes like this gate. It just seems to say, come in a enjoy my garden.
I look for these types of scenes to paint when I am in Italy. I start a painting, take a photo and finish it when I am home.
There are many of these paintable scenes in Certaldo Alto. Be sure and walk and enjoy this quiet village.
