Just stopping by at a supermarket in Empoli - enjoying a little piece of daily life - and taking care of the supplies for our ride back from today's journey.
What to buy: As always in Italy enjoying immensely the broad selection of fruits and vegetables.
We had finished our planned activites for this day and on the way back toward our villa in Poggio alla Croce, decided to make a detour and stop in Empoli...why Empoli? Well Ziv and Nissiem remembered that they had read somewhere about Empoli, so we had time, why not stop in.
We had no plans, nor did we have any tourist information, so just parked and spent the next hour walking the streets and doing some window shoppping. The photos show what we saw and what happened to us.
Fondest memory: The first photo shows Tal and Itzik with one of the local policemen. Tal every since we have begun travels with her has always wanted to be photographed with the local police.
The second and third photos are from the center of town, a statue in the small park and a church adjacent to the square.
The last photo with Ziv, Nissiem,Zohara,Tal and Itzik all pointing at the sign above their heads...the sign says ARAD, the name of our town in Israel. So we decided to stop in and say hello to the owners. After we spoke to one of the salespersons, we learned that the owners were from Iraq, not one of the most friendly countries toward Israel, so we said thank you and beat a fast retreat before the owners learned that we were there. Does not pay to take chances in a place you are not familiar with.
